
Julian Emery
Joint Managing Director
Julian has developed the main contracting arms of the business since joining in 1995, from Ernest Ireland Construction, where he spent 11 years as a Site Agent managing projects in the South West. His time is spent between contracts management and management of the business, with special focus on major projects, property development and corporate finance.
Simon Emery
Joint Managing Director
Simon joined the family business in 1985 straight from university and has spent the last 25 years managing the growing business. In that time he has been responsible for a large number of very varied projects including many to listed buildings. His main focus, in addition to working closely with the small works team, is property development and management of the business.
Piers Rendell
Estimating & Surveying Director
Piers joined Emery Brothers in 1993 after 6 years as estimator with R. Butcher and Sons. He joined the board of directors in 1996 and is now responsible for the estimating, surveying and subcontractor payments within the business.
Tony Gregory
Contracts Manager
Having gained a City & Guilds in Carpentry and Joinery, Tony worked for 4 years as a Carpenter and Joiner at Long’s followed by 18 years at the family firm, Gregory Thains. There he became a draughtsman in the masonry works before carrying out the estimating and surveying. He then joined TPM for 2 years which he jointly ran before finally joining Emery Brothers in 2001.

David Blackman
Contracts Director
Having spent 14 years working for Bovis Construction on numerous prestigious projects, David joined the company in 2004 specifically to undertake the management of the companies then largest project, The Egg Theatre. Since completing this, he has managed various large projects, the largest of which being the construction of a £9m new build manor house.
Simon Bright
Contracts Supervisor
Simon joined Emery Brothers in December 2014 having relocated from Cornwall. He has brought over twenty years of practical knowledge and experience with him and has overseen a number of larger projects since joining the team.
Merja Stewart
Finance Director
Merja joined the team at Emery Brothers in 2011 and in 2016 she joined the board of directors. She is in charge of all aspects of accounting and also deals with HR.
Louise Kirby
Secretary
Louise is normally your first point of contact when you call or visit, she provides secretarial assistance and administration support to the team.
Paula Rendell
Accounts Assistant
In 2000 Paula originally joined Emery Brothers as a secretary. After taking time off to have children she now works in the accounting department and is also responsible for organising in house and external staff training.
Richard Griffin
Operations Director
Richard joined Emery as operations director in July 2020 following his career at Beards & MD Group. With over 30 years of experience in construction and project management, Richard’s role is to lead the Emery team from contract award to the final certificate ensuring a successful outcome for both the customer and Emery at every stage.

Stuart Gregory
Contracts Surveyor
Stuart finished school in 1998 entering a 3 year apprenticeship in carpentry and joinery whilst working for the family business. He qualified with a city and guilds CITB level 3 in carpentry and joinery in 2001 . After more than 15 years of working on site he joined us in his new role during the summer of 2016 as a contracts supervisor.
Ben Athay
Contracts Supervisor
Ben joined Emery Brothers in 2004 as a third year apprentice carpenter, learning his trade and gaining knowledge in all aspects of the building industry. In 2014 he became a site manager and moved onto his current role of contracts supervisor in 2015.
Ieuan James
Site Manager
In 2010 Ieuan joined the team at Emery Brothers working as a general labourer. Since then he has diligently progressed up to his current role where he manages many prestigious renovation projects. These include the Bath Abbey, Bowood House and the Hauser & Wirth gallery in Somerset.
Paul Bazell
Site Manager
Paul worked as a construction project manager in central London for 4 years before moving to the west country and joining Emery Brothers in 2012. He currently works as a site manager on a range of larger residential and commercial projects.
Felix Emery
Site Manager
Felix joined the family business in 2013 and since then has progressed on to the role of site manager.
Mark Davies
Contracts Supervisor
Mark holds 35 years of all around construction experience having originally joined us in 2004. He now works on the small works side of the business and is responsible for running multiple projects that vary from small to large residential refurbishments and new builds.
Tony Daniels
Senior Contracts Manager
Tony joined Emery Brothers in 2020 with over 35 years experience in construction and project management. He joined Ernest Ireland Construction as an apprentice carpenter where he remained for 17 years and progressed to a Senior Project Manager. He brings a wealth of construction knowledge and experience and a proven track record of successful delivery working across all sectors including hospitality and education. Tony has also delivered projects with a variety of construction techniques and methods including sustainable materials, renewable energy and modular developments.

Richard Hiles
Site Manager
Richard has a large amount of construction experience that has been built up over the years whilst working on a wide range of projects. He now carries out projects on the large works side of the business and is responsible for running jobs that vary from large residential refurbishments to commercial fit outs.
Jon Samson
Contracts Supervisor
Jon joined Emery Brothers in 1997, he was appointed into his current role for the small works team in 2013. Jon has worked on a variety of projects ranging from minor refurbishments to larger scale developments. The most important aspect of his work is providing a high quality and personal service to his clients.

Jon Scofield
Site Manager
Jon joined Emery Brothers in 2018 having spent 19 years with Carillion Plc on numerous tier 1 projects across the construction and civil engineering businesses. He presently works in the major works team on a range of larger residential and commercial projects

Rob Howard
Site Manager
Rob joined Emery Brothers in 2015 after completing his degree in Architectural Engineering, Rob has since worked within the Major Works arm of the company on projects such as Somerset Place and Bath Abbey. He also handles any CAD work within the company.

Ben Bowers
Site Manager
Ben originally qualified as a cabinet maker in 2000 and has a specific interest in fine joinery installation, cabinetry, and heritage works. Having worked as both carpenter and manager in the high-end residential and commercial sectors in Sussex, London and Bath. He joined Emery Brothers in 2019 to work on the prestigious Bath Abbey footprints project.

James Watson
Estimator
James finished college in 2013 obtaining his HNC in Construction. James has had work experience as a Junior Architectural technician, Building Labourer, and CAD Estimator for a block and beam company. James comes to us from a Mechanical contractor where he was working as their estimator producing tenders for commercial projects ranging in value of £100k to £5 million for the mechanical package.

David Horton
Health & Safety Administrator
David joined Emery Brothers in April 2016 after having served 26 years in HM Forces. He is responsible for all things health and safety including specific work compliance issues and holds an assortment of NEBOSH qualifications. As well as this he is an expert in the field of IT and telecommunications.
Sam Thornell
Commercial Surveyor
After completing a Building Surveying BSc in 2007, Sam has worked within a building consultancy, and a building contractors, working on site and as a surveyor/estimator
