Joint Managing Director
Julian has developed the main contracting arms of the business since joining in 1995, from Ernest Ireland Construction, where he spent 11 years as a Site Agent managing projects in the South West. His time is spent between contracts management and management of the business, with special focus on major projects, property development and corporate finance.
Joint Managing Director
Simon joined the family business in 1985 straight from university and has spent the last 25 years managing the growing business. In that time he has been responsible for a large number of very varied projects including many to listed buildings. His main focus, in addition to working closely with the small works team, is property development and management of the business.
Estimating & Surveying Director
Piers joined Emery Brothers in 1993 after 6 years as estimator with R. Butcher and Sons. He joined the board of directors in 1996 and is now responsible for the estimating, surveying and subcontractor payments within the business.
Having gained a City & Guilds in Carpentry and Joinery, Tony worked for 4 years as a Carpenter and Joiner at Long’s followed by 18 years at the family firm, Gregory Thains. There he became a draughtsman in the masonry works before carrying out the estimating and surveying. He then joined TPM for 2 years which he jointly ran before finally joining Emery Brothers in 2001.
Having spent 14 years working for Bovis Construction on numerous prestigious projects, David joined the company in 2004 specifically to undertake the management of the companies then largest project, The Egg Theatre. Since completing this, he has managed various large projects, the largest of which being the construction of a £9m new build manor house.
Richard first joined the Emery Brothers team in 1999 as an apprentice carpenter. He progressed on to become a contracts manager and then on to join the board of directors in 2013. He is now responsible for residential and commercial projects with a value up to £2m.
Merja joined the team at Emery Brothers in 2011 and in 2016 she joined the board of directors. She is in charge of all aspects of accounting and also deals with HR.
Louise is normally your first point of contact when you call or visit, she provides secretarial assistance and administration support to the team.
In 2000 Paula originally joined Emery Brothers as a secretary. After taking time off to have children she now works in the accounting department and is also responsible for organising in house and external staff training.
Small Works Manager
After gaining an engineering and management degree Oliver worked as a programme manager in Sumatra following the Asian tsunami. Returning to the UK Oliver set up and ran a project management consultancy in Surrey before joining Emery Brothers in 2013 in order to deliver similar projects in his current role.
Estimator & Surveyor
Miles joined the team in 2013 and is responsible for tendering new business in order to secure future work for the company. His other time is split between valuing the financial progress of ongoing projects, placing subcontract orders and acting as a key point of contact for new clients.
Health & Safety Administrator
David joined Emery Brothers in April 2016 after having served 26 years in HM Forces. He is responsible for all things health and safety including specific work compliance issues and holds an assortment of NEBOSH qualifications. As well as this he is an expert in the field of IT and telecommunications.
Simon joined Emery Brothers in December 2014 having relocated from Cornwall. He has brought over twenty years of practical knowledge and experience with him and has overseen a number of larger projects since joining the team.
Mark holds 35 years of all around construction experience having originally joined us in 2004. He now works on the small works side of the business and is responsible for running multiple projects that vary from small to large residential refurbishments and new builds.
Ben joined Emery Brothers in 2004 as a third year apprentice carpenter, learning his trade and gaining knowledge in all aspects of the building industry. In 2014 he became a site manager and moved onto his current role of contracts supervisor in 2015.
Stuart finished school in 1998 entering a 3 year apprenticeship in carpentry and joinery whilst working for the family business. He qualified with a city and guilds CITB level 3 in carpentry and joinery in 2001 . After more than 15 years of working on site he joined us in his new role during the summer of 2016 as a contracts supervisor.
Ian joined the original team at Emery Brothers back in 1968 as an apprentice plumber. He is now a site manager on major works projects with a value of up to £10m. He is our longest serving member of staff and has seen the business grow from its earlier days.
Paul worked as a construction project manager in central London for 4 years before moving to the west country and joining Emery Brothers in 2012. He currently works as a site manager on a range of larger residential and commercial projects.
In 2010 Ieuan joined the team at Emery Brothers working as a general labourer. Since then he has diligently progressed up to his current role where he manages many prestigious renovation projects. These include the Bath Abbey, Bowood House and the Hauser & Wirth gallery in Somerset.
Felix joined the family business in 2013 and since then has progressed on to the role of site manager.
Richard has a large amount of construction experience that has been built up over the years whilst working on a wide range of projects. He now carries out projects on the large works side of the business and is responsible for running jobs that vary from large residential refurbishments to commercial fit outs.
Jon joined Emery Brothers in 1997, he was appointed into his current role for the small works team in 2013. Jon has worked on a variety of projects ranging from minor refurbishments to larger scale developments. The most important aspect of his work is providing a high quality and personal service to his clients.
Bryan joined the team at Emery Brothers in 2014 as a site manager and has 40 years of experience in all aspects of the construction industry, originally training as a bricklayer. Working for various large and small contractors over the years he has amassed knowledge of both small domestic and large industrial projects.
Having studied at Bath Technical College from 1986 to 1991 whilst completing an apprenticeship and obtaining an advanced city and guilds in stone masonry, Steve then worked at Gregory Thain Ltd. He joined us at Emery Brothers in 2002 initially working on the tools as a mason and has since been promoted to the role of site manager.
